Wi-Fi Printing: Step By Step Guides

Here are step-by-step guides for printing from laptops or other wireless devices, whether from inside the library or using any type of computer or wireless device with Internet access at home, school or work. Once you have followed these procedures, you must pick up your printout at the Printing Center at the library within 8 hours, after which the print job will be automatically deleted.

Please note:

  • Documents that require a login to view cannot be printed. Download the document to print first, or save the web page as HTML, then try printing the saved document (help).
  • Print jobs expire and are automatically deleted after 8 hours.
  • Help is available by clicking the question mark (?) on the Printin Services screen.
  • No refunds will be given for blank or unwanted pages.

Printing saved documents

1) Click on a "WiFi Printing" button WiFi-Printing-4 located anywhere on the library website.

2) Under the "Printer" heading, select whether you want your printout to be in black-and-white (10¢ per page) or in color (50¢ per page)

3) Under the "Enter User Info" heading, type a user name of your own making that will appear at the Print Release Station. It is not necessary to use your actual name. Any word or number that you will clearly remember as yours will suffice (i.e., tk234, rwt, kiwi, and w1988 area all acceptable names).

4) Under the "Select Document" heading, click “Browse” to find and select a file from your computer. The file must already have been saved to your computer.

5) Click the Forward Button   p1  and select your Printing Options

6) Click the Forward Button   p1  to enter the Approve Print Job screen

7) Click the Print Button   p2  to finalize the print job and send it to the Print Release Station

8) Go to the Print Release Station located in the Printing Center at the
library. The User Name you assigned to the print job will appear at the Print Release
Station. (Note: It may take several minutes after sending the request.)

9) Click on your User Name so that it is highlighted in blue

10) Continue to follow the instructions for releasing a print job

To retrieve the printout, you must go to the library's Printing Center (near the Reference Desk on the upper level.  Jobs remain in the print queue for 8 hours and must be printed during library hours. You will pay for your printout at the time of retrieval, using a library debit card, coins, currency, or your library card itself if it has enough credit on it.

Printing standard web pages

1) Click on a "WiFi Printing" button WiFi-Printing-4 located anywhere on the library website.

2) Under the "Printer" heading, select whether you want your printout to be in black-and-white (10¢ per page) or in color (25¢ per page)

4) Under the "Select Document" heading, insert the exact URL of the web page you wish to print.  We suggest you copy-and-paste rather than type in the letters.

5) Click the Forward Button   p1  and select your Printing Options

6) Click the Forward Button   p1  to enter the Approve Print Job screen

7) Click the Print Button   p2  to finalize the print job and send it to the Print Release Station

8) Go to the Print Release Station located in the Printing Center at the

Printing boarding passes or web pages with logins

1) Open the web page or boarding pass you wish to print.
Please Note: For web pages without logins, you can simply insert the URL into the “Select Document” window. Pages with logins will not appear properly, so these
extra steps must be taken.

2) Save the page as a document.
Remember where you save it. There are two ways to save:
Sometimes a boarding pass or web page has an icon you can click on to save the page as a PDF
If you cannot save it as a PDF, go to File>Save As and save the page as a
       “Web Archive, single file (*mht)”

3) Click on a "WiFi Printing" button WiFi-Printing-4 located anywhere on the library website.

4) Follow the instructions for printing a saved document

To retrieve the printout, you must go to the library's Printing Center (near the Reference Desk on the upper level.  Jobs remain in the print queue for 8 hours and must be printed during library hours. You will pay for your printout at the time of retrieval, using a library debit card, coins, currency, or your library card itself if it has enough credit on it.

Printing emails

1) Open the email or you wish to print.

2) Forward the email to one of the following addresses:

You will be sent a release code for the email message and each attachment. Use these release codes to retrieve your documents.  Email forwarding is ideal for online email portals such as Yahoo!, Hotmail or Google Mail.

Why?
Most online email services require that you log-in to access email. If you provide the URL (web address) of your message, the printing services will be blocked because your email login name and password are not known by the print system.

Printing email from a mobile device

1) Open the email you wish to print.
