Saturday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m.
Take a tour
of the international pantry we have at our doorstep with
local author, Marilyn Pocius, of A
Cook's Guide to Chicago. Discover unusual
ingredients by sniffing, tasting and sampling.
Learn how to make use of these delightful goodies just
in time for the holidays!

An Afternoon with
Jane Austen, Emily Bronte and Emily Dickinson on
Sunday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m.
Celebrate
three classic women writers who dared to break the male
dominated 19th century literary scene with storyteller,
Patricia
Hruby Powell, who will portray each writer in full
costume.
This
program is partially sponsored by a grant from the
Illinois Arts Council.

An Immigrant Class: Oral
Histories from Chicago's Newest Immigrants on Monday,
November 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Author, Jeff
Libman, documented the unique experiences and
emotions of twenty recent immigrants from various
countries in the world. Winner of the 2005 Crystal
Book Award, An
Immigrant Class, is filled with hope and
disappointment, success and setback. This
multi-media presentation will challenge the strongest
stereotypes about immigrants
today. |

Children’s Book Week is “More Books,
Please!”
Children and their parents or
adult caregivers are invited to visit the
Children’s department anytime throughout Book Week
to join in the festivities!
