Happy New Year 2007!

It's a new year and a time for new beginnings.  We set goals for ourselves for the coming year to eat better, exercise, stop procrastinating, get organized and balance work and family.

Life changes can be overwhelming and difficult to achieve everything you set out to do.  Fortunately there are numerous resources available to help you stay the course.

Go Online

Set goals and connect with others who have the same dreams at  Receive support and encouragement from those who want to read 50 books in 2007, be more patient, learn sign language, and run a half marathon just to name a few!

Get organized online at  Do you have a list of favorite websites on your computer at work and on your computer at home?  Organize them all in one place and publish them on the web.  Then access your favorites anytime, anywhere from any computer that has Internet access.

Most of us vow to eat better.  Find out what the world's healthiest foods are at  Use the Food Advisor to discover what foods you should eat based on your age, gender, lifestyle and health needs.  There are healthy cooking tips, recipes, menus and ideas on how to involve the entire family.

If you need inspiration, read about the Top 100 Most Influential Figures in American History from The Atlantic Online.  See who made the list and provide feedback if you think someone is missing!

Try the Library

Before you go to the bookstore or video store to spend money on titles of which you are unsure, try the library first!  We have hundreds of books,  audiobooks, magazines, videos and DVD's in our online catalog on:

If we do not have a title of interest, we can search area libraries to see if someone nearby owns it.  Or ask about our interlibrary loan service.

Look for our A Better You! program series in our Winter 2007 Focus newsletter to help jumpstart your new year.  Contact the Adult Services Reference Desk at 847-526-6225 ext. 203 or ext. 204 to register.
