These days who needs a library card?  We all do!

If you don't have a library card, can't find your old one or just haven't been in the library in a while, we encourage you to stop by and check us out!  September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, a time when we like remind residents of the importance of the library in your community

Today, we're more than just books, although we have plenty of those too!  The library also provides free access to:

Thousands of DVD's, CD's, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, iPods, Playaways, eBooks, eAudiobooks, and more

Free high-speed Internet access and wi-fi.  Laptops are available for checkout and can be used anywhere in the library.

Educational and entertaining programs for all ages, including movies, music programs, family entertainers, lectures, author events, storytimes, and book discussions for children, teens and adults.

Access our online databases from home, school or work to search for magazine and newspaper articles, for long-lost relatives, or for homework help.  Download mailing lists of potential customers or research business competition.

There is something for everyone.  All you need is your library card!

So how can I get the "smartest card"?

Any resident aged 5 years and up can get a library card at no cost, and lost cards will be replaced at no charge through September.  New cardholders will receive an orientation packet including a special library pen.  Free key chain cards are available during September to all library patrons over the age of 16.

For further information on now to obtain a library card, please call the library at 847-526-6225 or click here.  Better yet, come to the library to see how many ways you can take advantage of your library card.  It may well be the smartest thing you ever do!

Once you get the "smartest card",

More than 130 participating businesses throughout the library district will reward you with discounts or freebies when you present your library card during the month of September.

Also in celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month, library users who check out at least 10 items in a single visit will be eligible to enter our prize drawings for $25 gift certificates from Barnes and Noble or other great prizes donated by participating businesses.  Check out 3 items using the Self-Checkout machine and be eligible for the prize drawings.
