Blu-Ray DVDs are here!

The library has started a collection of the next generation in high-definition media, Blu-Ray DVDs.

This new format provides five times more capacity than today's DVDs.  This enables
the disc to provide entertainment in full high-definition quality, more content and additional special features.

There is also a greater level of interactivity than ever  before.  For example, some titles may allow you to control multiple viewings of a concert, call up related information about an artist, song or venue, scroll through song lyrics.  Different discs will contain different features.

You can enjoy your Blu-Ray DVD on Blu-Ray players, Blu-Ray enabled computers, and the Playstation 3.  Regular DVD players will not play Blu-Ray movies.

Help your four-year old get ready
                                               for kindergarten! Stop by the
                                                Children’s Services desk
to pick
                                             up a 2008 - 2009 calendar full of
activities designed to develop the skills
your child will need to start school.  If
you bring your four-year-old with you when
you pick up your calendar during the
month of September, your child will receive
a special surprise – and your name will be
entered into a drawing for a backpack filled
                                  with reading readiness materials!

Calendars, available in both English and in
Spanish, are generously provided by United
