September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month!

Did you know that your library card is the smartest card in your wallet?  Did you know that there are at least 52 ways to use your library?

If you haven't been to your local library in a while, it's time to stop by and check us out.  This is not your grandparent's library anymore!

• Bring your laptop and connect to the Internet with our free wireless access

• Check out a Blu-Ray DVD.

• Download eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eVideos.

• Check out a preloaded iPod, eBook reader or Playaway.

• Access the internet and get computer assistance.

• Use online databases to research just about anything.

• Attend a cooking program, lecture series, theater bus trip, play Wii, join a book discussion, create a drop-in craft and so much more!

• View popular movies on our big screen with surround sound.

• Manage your library account online and receive email alerts.

• Receive free online homework help from tutors after school.

And, we also have thousands of books, audiobooks, CD's, DVD's, magazines and newspapers!

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, the perfect time to make sure kids are equipped with a library card.  A library card can give kids access to free homework help, materials to research their papers or information for their next book report.  It can also help make life after school more fun, with free access to music, DVDs, the Internet and more.

Of course, library cards are not just for kids.  According to a recent household survey by the American Library Association, 44% of parents report that they bring their children to the library because it gives them something to do together. Parents can help their children explore new interests and, at the same time, enjoy a family program or pick out a best seller for themselves.  Best of all, family time at the library won’t break the bank.  The library and its resources are free with a library card.

So stop by your local library and sign up for the smartest card of all - a library card.  It’s your ticket to a world of opportunity and to quality family time.  Get It. Use It…together @ your library.

The library has partnered with OVER 150 LOCAL BUSINESSES to offer freebies and discounts for showing your library during the month of September.  Some freebies and discounts include:

• Culver's - Free scoop of custard with the purchase of a value meal

• McDonald's - Free ice cream or cookies with the purchase of a value meal

• Mike's Towing - 10% of labor on all service

• Prate Roofing - Free estimate on roofing, siding, insulation, gutters or windows
