Children's Author Tom LichtenheldMeet Famous Children's
Author Tom Lichtenheld!

Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m.

The Wauconda Area Library will host a special visit by award-winning children's author and illustrator, Tom Lichtenheld, on Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Lichtenheld will talk about the importance (and satisfaction!) of developing one's creativity and imagination, show slides of his picture book artwork, and demonstrate his drawing techniques. Copies of his books will be available for purchase one hour before and immediately following his presentation. Mr. Lichtenheld will be happy to autograph books when the program concludes.

Tom Lichtenheld has written and illustrated several enormously popular children's books, including Everything I Know About Pirates: A Collection of Made-up Facts, Educated Guesses, and Silly Pictures About Bad Guys of the High Seas, The OK Book, and the recently published, Duck! Rabbit! His delightful works have consistently received outstanding reviews, and are notable for their tongue-in-cheek humor, energetic illustrations, and overall bold, boisterous comic art style!

Children's Book Week

Children's Book Week is a time to celebrate books and reading in libraries, classrooms, bookstores and homes. This is also the time for you and your kids to make your voice heard by voting for your favorites in categories such as:

* Kindergarten to Second Grade Book of the Year
* Third to Fourth Grade Book of the Year
* Fifth to Sixth Grade Book of the Year
* Teen Choice Book of the Year
* Author of the Year
* Illustrator of the Year

Winners will be awarded a Children's Choice Book Award. For book lists of previous winners and additional recommended titles, view the Children's Choices BookList.
