Public Services I - Part-time

Overview:

We are seeking friendly, enthusiastic, service-minded applicants to provide a positive library experience in our library.  Must be detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.  Must be a self-starter, flexible and have excellent communication and customer service skills.   

Essential Job Duties:

  • Accurately and efficiently shelve library materials.
  • Works collaboratively with the Public Services Manager and Public Services team to shelve materials with the highest quality and maintain the highest quality order within the library’s collections.
  • Support the library’s concept of “within the hour” when pulling holds utilizing a mobile device.
  • Continuously maintain the orderliness and cleanliness of all public areas.
  • Provide friendly customer service on the public floor while shelving materials.
  • Process returned materials.
  • Represent the Library’s brand by providing a positive image at all times.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills, flexibility and sound and independent judgment.
  • Comfortably use library technology.
  • Work productively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage details.
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as assisting with programs or outreach events.

Qualifications: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Exceptional customer service focus.
  • Working understanding of library operations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related service work experience.

Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Ability to see, walk, sit, stand, speak, and hear.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.
  • Dexterity to perform data entry and eye-hand coordination to handle library materials or operating automated equipment.
  • Ability to push 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on your feet and stand for extended periods.

Hours:

Part-time:

  • Wednesdays 9a-2p
  • Thursdays 1p-6p
  • Fridays 1p-6p
  • 2 weekend shifts a month (4 hr shifts)

Rate: 

$15/hour. Includes pro-rated vacation and holiday pay if working qualifying hours.
